Training With The Jamaican Bobsled Team In Spanish Town
What's the best thing to do in the Jamaican summer heat? How about doing some track and field conditioning with the real Cool Runnings Jamaican bobsled team? Surprisingly to some, Bobsleigh in Jamaica is a pretty big deal, and training for the Olympics is a serious, full-time job for every member of the team. We were completely wiped from a single day of training, but these guys do their intense bobsled training program six days a week, six hours a day! The Jamaican national bobsleigh team started out at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Alberta. This is the team that inspired the cult classic movie from 1993, Cool Runnings. Since then, the Jamaica bobsleigh team has represented in the Olympics in 1992, 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2014! We wish them all the success in their next Olympic endeavour in 2018 for the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in South Korea. Watch the video to see what it takes to be an Olympian and head to http://jamaicanbobsled.com/ to help support their dream.
