It’s time to throw a Jamaican dancehall party! The basecampers head to the nearest dance school in Montego Bay, First Dance Studios, and learn about the culture of reggae. Jamaican music comes from a melting pot of musical styles such as mento, rocksteady, ska, reggae and dancehall. Thanks to the dedicated instructors at the school, we learn specifically about dancehall reggae songs with some hip-hop elements added to the mix. The Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa is about half-an-hour from downtown Montego Bay, where there is tons to do if you want to learn about the history of Jamaica. Stop by the historic Sam Sharpe Square to chat with the super relaxed locals who normally catch some sun, listen to music, sell goods and lounge around on nice days. Or you can check out the National Heroes Monument, the work of Jamaican artist Kay Sullivan or visit the Cage, an old jail transformed into a shop. Watch the video for a dose of dancehall vibes to lighten your day.
